Bang Your Head Festival - Balingen, Germany

Time for the headliner of the first evening at the Bang Your Head Festival: Ronnie James DIO and his band.

Previously, I had only seen DIO in small venues in Paris (La Locomotive and Le Divan Du Monde).
Now he was on stage in front of some 10 000 people, the way his shows should be!

For almost two hours, DIO delivered an enormous show covering important highlights of his career: Rainbow, Black Sabbath and his classics on solo, and of course a couple of tunes from his latest album Killing The Dragon.

As Doug Aldrich was hired by Whitesnake, Craig Goldy was suddenly back in the band. The rest of the line up was composed by Simon Wright, Scott Warren and long time Dio-partner Jimmy Bain.

Dio is one of the most charismatic singers in rock, and tonight he demonstrated that once again. He’s got a great relationship with his audience, he captivated everyone with his voice and his speeches.

That was a great to finish the day with such a good show… By midnight it was time to party in the camping ground, then get some sleep to be ready for the next day!
