Dio live at Le Divan Du Monde in Paris

Ronnie James Dio played at Le Divan Du Monde, a small club in Paris, during the Killing The Dragon Tour.

It’s a very small venue, so one question I asked myself was… Where the hell were all the Dio fans??

Well, anyway, with some 300 attendees, it was also like a private concert!

There were some Line-up changes since Dio’s last visit: On guitars we had Doug Aldrich, who is known nowadays to be Whitesnake’s guitar player.

On bass it was my first time seeing Jimmy Bain, the legendary bass player from Dio’s debut albums, as well as from Rainbow Rising! In other words, a member of the Dio family!

Scott Warren was still the keyboard player, while Simon Wright was still hitting the drums with precision and feeling.

The setlist comprised 3 classics from Black Sabbath, two from Rainbow, and the rest from Dio’s solo career.

They played a couple of songs from the Magica album, but this time they were performed in full, and not as a medley: Lord Of The Last Day and Fever Dreams.

Of course the latest album, Killing The Dragon, was not forgotten, and 3 songs were performed.

The general feeling at the venue was electric.

There was not many people, but you could be sure that everyone in there was a fan: Headbanging and singing on every song, and still screaming for more!

Lights were OK for a small venue, and I remember the sound was very good but loud, especially for Doug Aldrich’s guitar.

There was also a backdrop with the cover art of the album Killing The Dragon.

Dio did an exceptional vocal and stage performance!

The man doesn’t stand still in the centre of the stage, he moves from side to side, gets close to the audience, and knows how to speak to make everybody sing!

And all this without loosing the quality of his voice, that we could admire for almost two hours.

It was a memorable concert, and I'm really lucky to have attended. By the wat, thanks to my friend Christelle for the pictures! (I can't find mines!)
