St Francis Street is the main street in Jerusalem's Christian Quarter. After a few meters it changes name to Al Kanqah Street and then it becomes the Via Dolorosa.
It's very close to the Church Of The Holy Sepulchre, and many churches, hospices and patriarchates are located around.

The Lutheran Johanniter Order Hospice is located on the house of Es Schurefa. It accomodates pilgrims and travellers since 1866.
The Lutheran Johannier Order is part of the Order Of St John, thus the Malta Cross on the building.

Via Dolorosa is the street that follows the path that Jesus walked on the way to the crucifixion. There are 14 stations marking important moments during his torment. 9 of these stations are along the Via Dolorosa, with the last five are located inside the Church Of The Holy Sepulchre.

This is the Salahiyya Khanqah Mosque, also named El Khanqa Mosque.
The Mosque is very close to the Holy Sepulchre Church.
The
Palace Of the Patriach stood here during the time of the Crusades, before Saladin's capture of jerusalem in 1187.
The first islamic institution here was a Sufi Convent, commanded by Saladin in the late 12th Century. The minaret dates back from 1417. |
