Whitesnake album cover

Last April Whitesnake released an amazing live CD and DVD called Made In Japan, recorded at Loud Park Festival. Here we go again! Whitesnake is back with another live album, this time a double CD, called Made In Britain / The World Record.
Why two live albums of the same tour? Well, Made in Japan wasn’t actually planned!
Before embarking on the Forevermore World Tour, Whitesnake decided to record every single show of the tour, with the purpose to release this CD, Made In Britain / The World Record.
But the opportunity of an album live in Japan came when Whitesnake was offered to headline the Loud Park Festival. Since the band hadn’t headlined a Japanese festival since 1984, the decision was made to record it and release it.
But the CD version only has 12 songs, so Made in Japan is more a DVD with a bonus CD. The real live album that Whitesnake planned to release is this one, Made In Britain / The World Record.

Every single show of the tour was recorded, so Coverdale & co. had to choose the best performances out of more than 90 shows and 130 hours of music!
The result of this mammoth task is what could arguably be considered as Whitesnake’s definitive live album.
This double CD contains 25 songs, some all time Whitesnake favourites and some great tunes from their successful Forevermore album. They all sound amazing. It sounds clean, yet still full of raw energy. Put the volume high, you might even feel you’re at the show!

The first CD is named Made In Britain and it was entirely recorded during Whitesnake’s sold-out UK Tour. The response of the audience is amazing on every song, I can clearly imagine David Coverdale thinking “it feels good to be back home”.
The highlights of this first CD would be Best Years, Love Ain’t No Stranger, Forevermore and of course Here I Go Again.

The second CD is called The World Record and it has songs recorded all over the world. It’s not stated where each song was recorded, but for sure there’s stuff from Oslo in Norway, from Sweden Rock Festival, from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and from Buenos Aires in Argentina.
The highlights of this second CD would be Lay Down Your Love, Deeper The Love, an a cappella version of Soldier Of Fortune, and of course the Burn / Stormbringer medley from the Deep Purple days.

There are also some acoustic songs like One Of These Days and Fare Thee Well. By the way, Coverdale & co. couldn’t decide which was the best version of Fare Thee Well so this song is featured on both CDs. Both versions are different but I prefer the one from CD2.

Well, it’s true that this is Whitesnake’s sixth live album, and all the previous ones are amazing.
But Made In Britain / The World Record is also a brilliant one in every aspect: the songs, the sound, the crowds, and the strength of this line-up.

I totally recommend this album! Plus, if you attended the Forevermore World Tour, this double CD will certainly remind you some great moments.
