After Vanden Plas came the turn of another German Metal band, the heavy metal veterans of Rage.
I was really looking forward to see this band, because I missed the Strings To Web Tour. Last time I saw Rage, they made a very special concert at Wacken.

Peavey Wagner singing - Rage live in Mons

The sound was loud and not really clear when Rage began, but the audience got really excited as they began to play.

After a few songs, the sound got better and we could fully appreciate the songs and the musicians' skills.

Victor Smolski on guitars - Rage live in concert, The Berzerkus Tour

It was particularly impressive to see Peavey and Victor play Edge Of Darkness or Hunter and Prey.

Sweeping, tapping, asymmetric rhythm parts... Their songs aren't easy and it's always a pleasure to see such professional musicians on stage.

André Hilgers hitting the drums with Rage

Rage line-up is now stable again with André Hilgers on drums.
This guy is great, not only technically, but he's also a showman, headbanging as much as possible while he plays.
They didn't play a drum solo this day, and given the little time they had, it was the right choice.

Rage's setlist focused on their latest releases.
Unfortunately, they had so little time allowed that they could only play songs from their last decade.

No song from the 80's was played, and only the favourite Higher Then The Sky represented the 90's.

The lenght of the set was frustrating but, it's a Festival show, and it's not their fault if they couldn't play longer.

They didn't play for a long time but they played with energy and dedication.

To me Edge Of Darkness, Down and Drop Dead were the absolute highlights.

It was a pleasure to see Rage again and I hope the next one will be a headlining show.

Well, let's stay with German bands. Here comes... Gamma Ray!
