Dream Theater was came after Mastodon, but the previous band worth was Hammerfall.

They started the show with one of my favourite songs, Under A Glass Moon, and that was enough to get me in the mood again.

But I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the whole Dream Theater carrer, so I don't know by heart every song on every album... and this can be a problem on a summer festival

Let me put it this way. When a band like, say Bullet, play a festival, you don't need to know the songs, you just headbang.
When Dream Theater plays, time can seem long if you don't know the songs, and getting bored is just a matter of time.

Add to this that the weather was sunny and very warm, plus the festival area was quite dusty.
Because of all this combined, I didn't enjoyed the show that much.
Nevertheless, I was very pleased about having tunes like Fatal Tragedy, Caught In A Web and the incredible Metropolis Pt1 on the setlist.

I'd say that Dream Theater isn't really a band for festivals, but their shows indoors are completely different. Read here about the next Dream Theater concert in Paris.

The band of stage was the headliner os Madrid's Sonisphere: The one, the only, the mighty Iron Maiden!.
