Tajikistan is one of the best kept secrets on earth! Difficult to access, it’s not a destination for everyone. Most of the country is covered by mountains, which can cause altitude sickness, luxury hotels are not the norm, and most roads are in poor condition.

Yet it’s one of the best surprises a traveller can have! Gorgeous landscapes, welcoming people, crystal lakes, amazing mountains, ancient cities and a monumental capital... all those assets make a Tajikistan a unique destination ready to be discovered.

I visited Tajikistan once, in early 2010. It was winter time so I concentrated on the south, which is the most accessible part of the country.
