Summer 2008 Israel: Qumran
We visited Qumran on our way to Masada.

Qumran is an archaeological site located north to the Dead Sea. It’s known for the Dead Sea Scrolls, the most famous of the apocryphal evangels.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956. Not all documents have been published.
The archaeological park is really well made.
After you pay the entrance fee, a movie about the story of the place is shown.
Then you walk through a small museum and finally arrive to the ruins.

Everything is well signposted, so the visit is very pleasant and is not that difficult to recreate the site in your mind as it was centuries ago.
