During our days in the Galilee and the Golan, we based ourselves in Tiberias. We found a nice hostel there and as we had car, we could move freely around the region.
Capernaum is a place we absolutely wanted to visit!
The name is mythical; it evokes a legendary place, just like going to Kathmandu or Timbuktu.

Capernaum is located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, a few kilometres north of Tiberias.
There is no city nowadays named Capernaum, it’s an archaeological site with a few churches and monasteries around. |
