At the end of 2010, Volbeat toured all over Europe to promote their new record Beyond Hell / Above Heaven. Nevertheless, no concert was scheduled in France back then...
This summer, Volbeat played at Sonisphere Amneville, a sucessful show that proved that they have fans here!

The fans have been waiting patiently but tonight, Volbeat were finally back in Paris, 3 years after the show at La Scène Bastille in 2008.
3 years is a lot for a band that has enjoyed so much success lately, playing arenas all over the globe.

The Bataclan is the largest venue Volbeat have played in Paris, so I guess that for many people, this was the first time they're seeing Volbeat on stage.

So, this was going to be a very special night. Not only it was Volbeat's return... but there were also some special guests in the audience.
James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo from Metallica were in the audience watching the show tonight.
Unfortunately, there was no jam, but I can tell you that James doesn't joke when he says that he's a fan of Volbeat.
I saw him singing the words of the songs and banging his head during Volbeat's riffs!

The concert started with Motörhead's Born To Raise Hell, a good intro to sum up what was going to come.
The band came on stage with the riff of Find That Soul, followed by Hallelujah Goat.

The guys from Volbeat were certainly in high spirits today! They were full of energy, giving it all while playing.

Thomas Bredhal and Anders Kjølholm - Volbeatt live in Paris

The tour has been long and Michael Poulsen's voice sounded a bit tired. He couldn't reach very hight notes, but nevertheless he did a good performance.

Michael changed his position on stage several time during the show by singing on every microphone available. Thus, he was as close as possible to the audience and could tease everyone. He even had a short conversation with some crazy guys on the balcony to the left!

Michael Poulsen and Jon Larsen, live with Volbeat

Volbeat's best known influences are certainly Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Metallica. But there's much more than that!

Michael Poulsen played the show with a t-shirt of Napalm Death, and wore one of Death during the encores.
As for Thomas Bredahl, he wore a T-shirt from The Misfits and then one from Social Distortion.

The Garden's Tale: Thomas Bredahl at the Bataclan in Paris, live with Volbeat Volbeat played a few excerpts from cover songs, including We Will Rock You and I Want To Break Free from Queen and South Of Heaven and Raining Blood from Slayer.
They didn't forget their homeland: Michael said that in Denmark they had King Diamond, before playing part of Come To The Sabbath from Mercyful Fate.
Worth to note, Mercyful Fate and The Misfits are also some of Metallica's main influences.

One of the last songs Volbeat played was Thanks, a tune written for the fans. A dozen of fans were invited on stage for a little party during this one.

After 20 complete songs plus some 10 excerpts, everyone could be satified.
But knowing that some Metallica members were attending the show, maybe they could have played The Wild Rover Of Hell.

This was a good night of rock and metal. It was a pleasure to see Volbeat headlining a concert again.
I love this band, they're really good on stage. And if you're not convinced... ask James Hetfield!

The next day there was another concert: Paul diAnno was in town.
