After Death Angel came the time for the headliner of the tent stage: another band of the San Francisco Bay Area, Vicious Rumors.
It's been almost 10 years since the last time I saw this band: it was in 2002 on tour with Savatage.
Back then, Ira Black from Where Angels Suffer was their guitar player.

I think Vicious Rumors is an underrated band. They guys are great musicians, they have a long career, and have some very good stuff.
Nevertheless, they've never achieved a very high status among metal bands.

I witnessed a very good metal show, with five musicians smiling and having fun on stage.

On many songs, there are great hormonic solos played by both guitar players, Geoff Thorpe and Kiyoshi Morgan. They sounded killer!

But quite a few people left the tent during the show.
Maybe these people was too drunk, or maybe Vicious Rumors songs and choruses are not catchy enough.

Singer Brian Allen can reach very high notes, and he's got a good voice. But as a frontman, he should work on his relationship with the audience, how to make the people scream and raise their fists.

One thing he noted is that Vicious Rumors come from San Francisco Bay Area. There's the famous Alcatraz prison there, and here they were here at the Alcatraz Festival!

I like very much this band and tonight was the first time I was seeing Vicious Rumors headlining.
Maybe I was expecting too much. Probably even more after those killer concerts by W.A.S., U.D.O. and Death Angel.

I enjoyed the concert, but I'm sure thay can do better than that.

There was only one band left to end this great metal day: Helloween.
