Dee Snider from Twisted Sister live at the Bang Your Head

I went to the Bang Your Head !!! mostly for Twisted Sister, which is one of the best live acts I've ever seen!

It's also some kind of historical place to play: in 2002, Dee Snider made an amazing headlining show with his band. The next year, reunited Twisted Sister headlined Bang Your Head!!! 2003.

Twisted Sister came back to the Bang Your Head !!! in 2005 but I couldn't go to the festival this year.

Now in 2010 they were back for a magic show in Balingen. And for the first time... without make-up!

The night was falling down and the rain stopped to fall: it was time for Twisted Sister to hit the stage of the Bang Your Head!!! Festival.

They were here again. At this same stage where I saw them in 2003.
No more make make-up, but still with their pink guitars and Animal’s blue bass.

Well, what can I say? Again and again Twisted Sister is one of the best bands in the world. Their performance at this year’s Bang Your Head!!! Was simply incredible.

Welcome to the church of Twisted Sister. That's how Dee Snider announced the song I Believe In Rock'n'Roll.
And he's right! If Dee was a priest, no doubt he'll have so many followers!
And what about the crowds? Well, he called us "The cream of Rock'n'Roll!"

Fortunately he's a rock singer! I don’t know where does Dee Snider’s energy comes from.
The guy jumps and runs for almost two hours and incredibly well.
I only know one other performer like him: Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden.

Twisted Sister's energy is contagious and Dee Snider is in charge to propagate it.

AJ Pero from Twisted Sister live at the Bang Your Head

During the song The Price he asked Johnny, their light technician, to turn off all the sopotlight. Then he asked the crowd to show our lighters and mobile phones.

Then during I Wanna Rock he asked us to jump, and to scream "I wanna F*ck" this once, instead of the title of the song.

But everyone was part of the show. For example, AJ Pero played a drum solo with red light sticks during Burn In Hell.

Most bands at the Bang Your Head!!! honoured Ronnie James Dio by playing one of his songs.
Twisted Sister did a double tribute: Their intro is normally AC/DC’s It’s a Long Way To The Top.
But here they made a medley with Rainbow’s Man On The Silver Mountain.

By the end of the show, Twisted Sister played another Rainbow song: Long Live Rock’n’Roll.

If you have read the previous bands reviews (Hades, Fates Warning , Queensrÿche...), you know that it rained during the whole day.

Well, the weather was warm for Twisted Sister and Dee Snider said he was happy about this " perfect weather"!

How funny! It ’s easy to say that the weather was perfect! He was in his hotel room while we were under the storm!

I saw Twisted Sister at the Hellfest in France, one month earlier, but they played only for an hour in the middle of the afternoon. It was not enough, but they were certainly one of the best bands of the festival.

Here at Bang Your Head!!! Twisted Sister played a 16 song setlist that lasted for almost two hours.

What’s cool about Twisted Sister is that every year they change a few songs on the setlist, even if they don't have a new album.

Destroyer or What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You) were not played, but we had a rare song: Captain Howdy, where Dee made the crowd sing along.

They dedicated the song I Am (I'm Me) to The Quireboys, a band with whom they've shared a festival stage several times.

Dee Snider announced that Twisted Sister were recording their new DVD at Bang Your Head 2010!

That of course made the audience scream even louder.

All the guys from Twisted Sister were in a very good mood during the whole show.
Of course because of the concert, but they also announced that this was Jay Jay French's birthday party!
He turned 58 three days later, on July 20.

The band invited on stage the festival organizer, and the band thanked him for the support all over the years.

And if the Twisted Sister reunion happened, it's in part thanks to the Bang Your Head. If you were at Dee Snider's concert in Balingen in 2002, then you know why!

The Fire Still Burns - Twisted Sister live at the Bang Your Head The show ended with a great firework to the right side of the stage, and everyone in the audience was still singing We’re Not Gonna Take It.

That's the happiest end for a festival, and for a great weekend!
