THE EXPLOITED

Sometimes there are no concerts scheduled for a while, sometimes there are two on the same evening. That was the case today: Airbourne and The Exploited playing in Paris on the same day.

I had never seen The Exploited before so I chose to go to their show.

The Exploited were headlining the first day of what was called the Paris Extreme Fest. This festival, held indoors at the Elysée Montmartre featured a punk day headlined by The Exploited. The second day was dedicated to Hardcore and was headlined by Agnostic Front.
The third day was the Metal day, with bands like Entombed or Samael, and headlined by Arch Enemy.
I only attended the punk day.

After the cult band Discharge and a short interlude, The Exploited arrived on stage. Without any intro, without any speech, they just came out and play!

Who needs an intro? We’re talking about punk: direct, hard, in your face! The first song was Let’s Start A War, and that’s what happened indeed!

Wattie is very impressive on stage! He's big, strong, and gives it all during the show.

On guitars we had Matt McGuire, the newest member of the band.
He looked more like a Metalhead than like a Punk.

He did a very original slide guitar solo, using a lighter, as you can see on the picture below.

Surprisingly, I found the audience quite calm. People were moshing put pogo was not as hard as I have expected.
Also, security respected the slammers, I think they've learn the lesson: years ago there was a riot at an Exploited concert in Paris because of security staff treating bad the fans.

Until not so long ago security staff at the Elysée Montmartre used to be one the most rude and aggressive security personnels I've seen. Now they've change, since they were much critized.

The Exploited setlist was great to me, it was kind of a Best Of, with all their classics.

Of the songs I love, The Massacre was the only one they didn't play, but every other tune I wanted to hear was played!

Members of the French band Black Bomb A joined The Exploited on stage for an unforgettable version of Sex & Violence.
This was a big party moment for everyone on stage, as well as for the audience, as you can see on the video below.

The band came bacl later to play two encores.

My first Exploited concert was great experience. I got back home with their melodies in my head... and they stayed there!
For 3 day I kept singing F**k the USA or Beat The Bastards!

One thing is certain: PUNK IS NOT DEAD!!!
