Chuck Billy and Paul Bostaph - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

The Priest Feast tour had an amazing bill! It’s almost like a festival. Judas Priest, with Testament and Megadeth, that’s something that cannot be missed.
I went to see this tour in Stockholm with my friend Ricardo.

The venue is a very nice arena just a few subway stations from Stockholm’s center. It’s actually a big sphere, it looks like Star War’s Death Star from outside.
Alex Skolnick - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

Testament began just five after we got in.
They started with the classic Over The Wall.
Outside on the streets it was freezing, but inside there was an amazing thrash metal mood.
Fans on the pit didn’t wait the next song to start moshing and headbanging.
Even if the crowds in Sweden are quite calm, the front rows couldn’t stand still when Testament got on stage.

The sound was loud and very clear.
There was a beautiful giant backdrop with cover of their latest album, The Formation Of Damnation.

Testament’s light show was great, far better that the one from Megadeth, who were playing later.

Chuck Billy - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

Chuck Billy proved again to be a great frontman. Not only when talking to the audience, but also when addressing the crowds.
Greg Christian’s bass lines could be heard perfectly, and he plays them as no the records, no matter how complicated they are.
Paul Bostaph, well, he knocks his drum like an animal. He is one of the best thrash metal drummers around; I’m amazed everytime I see him live.

Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

And what about this pair of guitarists? There’s only one Eric Peterson with his killer riffs and his fast solos. And there’s only one Alex Skolnick, a technical guitar master full of felling, melody and yet really heavy.

I’m so glad he’s back on the band. I always thought that Alex and Eric are one of the best guitarist’s pairs in metal, just like Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman in Slayer or Dave Murray and Adrian Smith in Iron Maiden.

Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

The show was short, but intense.
The setlist was quite strange and they only played nine songs.
It’s first Testament show I’ve seen when they haven’t played Disciples Of the Watch.

Of course a lot of classics were missing: Electric Crown, Low, Demonic Refusal, The Haunting... They have so many good songs and it’s hard to play all their classics in so little time.

Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009 I’m glad they didn’t skip their magnificent album The Gathering : they played D.N.R. (Do Not Resuscitate) and 3 Days in Darkness from that record.

It was hard to believe that the Priest Feast was just begining. Testament's show was amazing and full of energy.

Now it was time to see Megadeth
Greg Christian and Chuck Billy - Testament live in Stockholm, Sweden - February 28 2009

By the end of the concert we passed in front the tour buses so we decided to wait.
We spoke for well half and hour with Greg Christian. He told us a lot of things about the tour, and about being back in Testament.

We also saw Alex Skolnick, who is a true gentleman. He asked about our impressions from the show. he's very polite, not at all a rock star attitude.

Thank you Stockholm! Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson and Paul Bostaph didn’t stay long, as it was freezing outside, they were tired and they didn’t want to get a cold.
