Tom Araya from Slayer at the Sonisphere Festival France

Right after Volbeat, time to go to the Apollo Stage for the second band of the big four: Slayer!

Last year at Sonisphere Romania for the Big Four, Slayer played on the third place, right before Metallica.
This time they had the the second place, between Anthrax and Megadeth.

It’s quite usual to see Slayer in summer festivals around Europe, and it’s always amazing to see how the audience responds!

Slayer fans, are die-hard fans! Moshing, headbanging are crowdsurfing were the rules during this concert!

It was the first time I was seeing Slayer with Gary Holt from Exodus.

Gary Holt from Exodus live with Slayer at the Sonisphere France

Gary’s been replacing Jeff Hanneman, while he recovers from the infection he caught earlier in 2011.

Well Gary does great in Slayer, they found a great replacement. He's a legendary thrash axeman and now he was performing to a very large audience in another legendary band.

But of course, we can't wait for Jeff Hanneman to be recovered soon... and really hope that Exodus future plans won't be compromised.

Slayer played a very enjoyable setlist to please everyone's tastes.

There were rrecent songs like Hate Worldwide or Snuff, but most tunes were classic stuff.

The song Black Magic was a nice surprise, it's been years since the last time I saw Slayer playing it.

Slayer in 2011 are still a war machine, and no matter how ooften they play the festivals, they still rock as one can expect.

Everyone did great at this show. Also Tom Araya, who had some problems with his voice earlier, made a very good performance tonight.

After Slayer, it was time for Megadeth to hit the stage.
