Samael were the opening act for Paradise Lost on that cold December night.
I had only seen the band once before that. It was in 2000, at the Artifacts Festival in Strasburg.

They totally blew my mind, but for some reason, I didn’t catch a show in the following nine years.

I was very excited about seeing Samael again, even if I knew they wouldn’t play for more than an hour as an opening act.

Well, they were as impressive as I remembered them!

Despite a poor light show, mostly led by colour blue, Samael made sure that the audience had a great time.

The fact that Vorph speaks French helps a lot.

They also had a screen on the back of the stage, showing some images according to the songs.

It’s quite strange to see a band without a real drummer, but that’s Samael’s style.

I didn’t know every song on Samael’s setlist, but I enjoyed every single moment from their concert.

I got out of the show with the intention of getting some more Samael music and get to know this band better.

Now that Samael heated the audience, Paradise Lost had the difficult task to play after them.
