After a powerful Slayer show, I came back to the Mainstage 01, where Maiden played one hour earlier, to see the Power Metal band Sabaton again.
Playing with Iron Maiden is a dream for any metal band, but it can be tricky. Maiden bring so many toys on stage and it's long to take them down, so Sabaton didn't even have time to make a proper soundcheck.
The other problem is that it was late, and after the headliner, many people go to sleep or to party elsewhere.
As a result, not that many people attended the Sabaton show, and the sound was pretty bad. But the band compensated this by giving it all on stage and delivering the best possible performance.

They made sure that everyone had fun, so they chose songs that were easy to sing, or made to headbang or clap hands. They performed no less that 3 songs from their excellent latest record Heroes and they were very well received. By the way, Joakim Brodén played guitar on Resist And Bite, and included snippets from Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water and Metallica's Master Of Puppets.

Despite some difficulties, Sabaton demonstrated that they're a world class live act, and their songs are made to be played on stage.
