Spike from The Quireboys live in Paris 2009

I couldn' believe when I saw that there was a Quireboys show announced in Paris!
Last time The Quireboys played here was in 1991 or 1992... Now, almost a generation later, they're finally back!

But there's something else I couldn't understand: They were not headlining the show!
Crucufied Barbara was the headliner. It's a great band, but, I don't know, I think The Quireboys deserved to be the headlining act.

There were some 500 people at the Trabendo that night. That's quite reasonable, as there have been some concerts cancelled lately because of lack of presales. Circle II Circle (which I finally saw them in Zlín) was cancelled and I heard Bad Brains was not selling much entries.

I arrived early to the show. The first band playing was Dollhouse, a great rock band from Sweden with a lot of energy, feeling and soul.

After a short wait The Quireboys came on stage and all the first rows fans became mad!
A lot of people in the audience had never seen The Quireboys before. I was lucky enough to see them in 2003 in Spain and in 2008 in Italy. These shows were both festivals and the band was opening for Twisted Sister. There was of course a lot of people. This was my first Quireboys shows in a small club and it's probably the best way to see a band like this.

Gene Simmons from The Quireboys live in Paris, May 7 2009

The sound was great: quite loud and very clear. They also had good lights. Not too many, but enough to create a good atmosphere.

The show started with Don't Bite The Hand, followed by and amazing version of Misled.

With 5 songs out of 12, most of the setlist was cetered around their first album A Bit Of What You Fancy. This was no surprise, as this album is a real Rock'N'Roll msterpiece.

But sadly they only played two songs from their latest album Homewreckers and Heartbreakers. Well, that's because they didn't have much time. Spike told me later that the previous week the played a two and a half hours show! Woah! I would have loved to be there!

Spike drinking some of "The Finer Stuff" The Quireboys in Paris - May 7 2009

The Quireboys seemed happy to be back in Paris after all those years. With Spike having a drink of "The Finer Stuff" for the French fans. I just hope that they'll come back soon.

I think it's a very honest band. They have been around for more than two decades, they have toured the whole world, they've played in big stadiums and festivals... and still they don't mind to play a gig as an opening band.

They just play, no matter how many people there's in the audience, and they have no problem in letting some fans join them to party and drink beer after the show.
They really respect their fans, and I respect their attitude.

Paul Guerin from The Quireboys in Paris - May 7 2009

Anyway, I'm sorry about the girls. I only saw two songs from Crucified Barbara (which by the way sounded great). Next time.

During Crufied Barbara's show I was drinking beer and talking about all kinds of stuff with other fans, as well as with Spike, Paul and Guy from The Quireboys.

I Hope they'll come back soon, or at least to catch them at some festival.

It was a pure Rock'N'Roll evening , with a great concert and nice party.

Spike from The Quireboys- Live in Paris - May 7 2009 If they come to your town, be sure to attend their gig. The Quireboys did an album called This Is Rock'N'Roll, and that's exactly what they're going to show you!
