Paul Di Anno live in a restaurant? Pub Le Moulins d'Alsace, Santeny, France

Whoever was at this concert will remember it forever!
And will probably keep a memory as good as the one Paul keeps.

This was one of the worst concerts in my life. But not because of Paul DiAnno, because of this bloody place called Les Moulins d’Alsace.

Paul Di Anno in a restaurant in Santeny, Pub Le Moulin, near Paris

The owner of the Pub Le Moulin had the great idea of making Paul DiAnno play at the smallest venue he ever played.
Paul himself confirmed that this was the smallest gig of his life.

Several artists, mostly jazzmen, play at Le Moulin. Some of them are well known, or have recorded with well known bnds or musicians.

The Pub Le Moulin is in the city of Santeny. You have to get there by car, there's no public transport.

The place itself is not bad: Outside there's a windmil outside, and inside there are faces of musicians painted on the walls. Of course, there's a stage, big enough to hold a band, but musicians will find hard to move around.

But the thing is that the Pub Le Moulin is not a Pub at all. It is a restaurant!

Who the hell organizes Metal concerts in a restaurant?

OK, let's say that once in a lifetime, Paul DiAnno would play in a restaurant. How do you organize this?
As eating is mandatory, the menu should be included in the ticket price, don't you think?

Well, the owner of this so-called pub imposed an entrance fee of 25€ (more than twice the price of the following DiAnno shows at Vitry and Vauréal)... Plus incredibly high food prices!

So, for the people who bought the dinner, plus the entrance fee, plus a couple of beers, this gig costed at least 80€. Ouch!

Now, about the show...
This will sum up it all: I saw Paul before getting on stage and he said "Oh God! What am I doing here??!!"

Lights were practically non existent, and white spots where there all the time.
The sound was awful.

Probably only 20 people out of the maybe 60 eating at the restaurant knew the songs from the setlist.
At one point, Paul asked if they wanted to play bingo for the next hour!

Paul said on stage that he'll never do something like this again. He looked angry, and I can understand it.
Just to provocate the well mannered guys, he kept saying "fu*k" in almost every sentence during the whole show.

The owner of the place, got on stage before the encore to remind us that we had to clap our hands if we wanted the band to come back. What a loser! Did I mention that he has a horrible voice?

So... what to do when everything is going wrong and you know thigs can't get better? You take it easy and you have fun!!

So we went to the front of the stage. We sang the songs, headbanged and enjoyed the concert that Paul DiAnno and the band The Stars played, no matter how bad the conditions were.

It was a unique evening, something certainly won't happen again. As for sure I'll never go back to the Pub Le Moulin again!

Lucky enough, Paul DiAnno's French Tour was just begining, so we knew some real concerts were coming soon! Starting the next day at Vitry Le François.

Paul DiAnno is a metal singer, not someone who plays in restaurants. At least this was clear at the end of the show for everyone in there!
