After touring Around The World in 66 Days, Iron Maiden's European tour for The Final Frontier started today!

Adrian Smith in Frankfurt

Maiden played a total of 6 gigs in Germany in 2011. I planned to fo 2 of them: Frankfurt and Oberhausen, but when I found that Rush was playing in Frankfurt the next day, I decided to stay there and miss the Oberhausen gig.

Steve Harris, Adrian Smith and Bruce Dickinson in Frankfurt

There was a big party in the city of Frankfurt. Not only it was the start of Iron Maiden's European Tour, but it was saturday!
Maiden fans from all over Europe and even further way came for the show.

You can think what you want about the album The Final Frontier, you might like it or not, but anyway most Maiden gigs were sold-out.

Janick Gers from Iron Maiden live in Frankfurt

The show started with a video from Satellite 15 and the guys came on stage with The Final Frontier.
The atmosphere was electric! Fans at the festhalle were really excited! Claping their hands and singing the lyrics, even from the newest songs.

Bruce tried to adress the crowds in German. He said wilkommen to start.
Then he tried to say something about the weather, but he couldn't, so he stated "German is fu***in' complicated! Speak English Or Die"!

Scream for Bruce Dickinson! - Iron Maiden live in Frankfurt

Bruce pointed that it felt great to do a large indoors tour in Germany, the first one in many years.

The whole band gave it all and they really seemed happy to be on tour, and to perform a sold-out German tour.

Dave Murray on guitars - Iron Maiden live in Frankfurt

I was wondering is there would be some changes on the setlist, comparing to the tour Around The World In 66 Days, which I had the chance to see in Colombia in March.
But Iron Maiden is not the kind of band to add surprises on the setlist, so it remained the same, and I bet it's going to remain like this until the end of the Tour.

Steve harris and his blue Fender bass - Wildest Dreams

Nevertheless, there was a little change in the song The Talisman, which was shortened. I didn't find this really cool... this song is a masterpiece!
The short version is still great, but when you have the lyrics in mind, you know that definitely something is missing.

Benji Breeg with Adrian Smith and Dave Murray

Bruce Dickinson stated that being in Iron Maiden is the best job in the world and that 2011 has been an amazing year so far.
The talked about the Around The World in 66 Days tour and about the Flight 666 movie.... about taking of and off and off and finally Coming Home!

Brave New World - Nicko McBrain and Bruce Dickinson

Bruce also reminded us that they have played in all kinds of countries so wherever the fans come, shall they be Muslim, Christian Jew, Black, White or whatever else, we were all part of the Iron Maiden family... and that's how they started this fraternity hymn called Blood Brothers.

Bruce Dikinson and Jancik Gers wearinh hats - Iron Maiden live in Frankfurt

During European Tour 2010 there was only a big walking Eddie, who apperaed during the song Iron Maiden.
This time, the walking Eddie appeared durung the song The Evil That Men Do.
And he didn't have to grab Dave's guitar, as the did in Valencia last year. No, this time Eddie brought his own guitar from outerspace.

Adrian Smith wearing a hat in Frankfurt

For the song Iron Maiden, the huge Eddie head on the back of the stage was back!
It was an amazing Alien Eddie, moving his fingers up and down, and his head from left to right.

Iron Maiden performed a great show and made clear that this will be a succesful Tour.
Next Maiden show... Paris in one month!
