Hammerfall live at Wacken Open Air

Time for Hammerfall to hit the Wacken Blask Stage.

I saw this band earlier this year and I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping to catch them on a summer festival see if they’ll play a better show.

The same thing happened to me with Edguy: The concert in Paris in January wasn’t great, but their show at the Gods Of Metal was excellent.

Well, Hammerfall also did a great job at Wacken.

To start, they were the first band on Friday to have a customized stage set.

I’m not talking about backgrounds, which almost every band had, but a real customized stage which would suit a headliner.

Oscar Dronjak and Anders Johansson live in Wacken

There were silver stairs, with Anders Johansson’s drum on top, and a beautiful silver Hammerfall blazon logo.
Quite imprssive.

Their show was good too, and the energy was there.

Oskar Dronjak moves all around up and down, like if the stage was his home!

Bass player Fredrik Larson also spent his time headbanging.

Hammerfall’s setlist included some classics and some recent songs.

They played for an hour, and we had great versions of some of their best songs.

Pontus Norgren from Hammerfall live at Wacken Open Air After the beautiful ballad Glory To The Brave, Joachim Cans reminded us a of their song Remember Yesterday, from their album Legacy Of Kings.

He said that they wouldn’t play the song because otherwise there would be too many ballads.

But he gave the audience a piece of advise about Remember Yesterday, think about Tomorrow, but live the moment.

Nice way to introduce Life Is Now.
Oskar Donjak and Joacim Cans from Hammerfall live at Wacken Open Air Joachim asked the audience who had seen Hammerfall before.

When people raised their hands, he shouted ”We’re not at school here! Don’t just raise your hands… Here you raise your hands and screeeeeam!”.

It was very pleasant to see Hammerfall playing a far better show than the last one in Paris.

After that I ran to the Wet Stage to see the return of New Jersey’s thrash legends Whiplash!
