Grave Digger were finally back on the road, to promote their new Scottish-flavoured album The Clans Will Rise Again.

Digger fans were waiting for the band, 4 years after the last time the Clans marched in Paris.

Keyboardist HP was the first to come on stage during the intro song Days Of Revenge. As usual he was dressed as the Grave Digger, and this time he walked
the stage playing a Bagpipe.

The rest of the band followed, and the first song they played together was Paid In Blood.
Chris Boltendahl was dressed as a Scotchman, and that was very classy.

The lights were good, the sound was great too, the band was giving an awesome
performance, and so the audience was reacting accordingly. A lot of headbanging
and some moshing … and here’s when the downer came up! After just two songs,
Chris Boltendahl announced that the band don’t like moshpits, and if the
audience continues, they will stop playing and go!
What do they think they play? Lounge, or ball-filled Heavy Metal?
And would they really stop the show as Guns’n’Roses would do?

This one was really the only negative point of the show. The band performed a great setlist with most of their best tunes. 20 songs in almost two hours!!

Even if they played a long set, some songs were missing, like Shadowmaker or The Grave Digger, but they have so many albums and good songs that they can’t play them all.

Some of the best moments were The Dark Of The Sun, Knights Of The Cross, Highland Farewell and the hymn Rebellion, sung really loud by all the clans in the audience.

There was a backdrop with the cover of the album The Clans Will Rise Again.

The stage set also comprised a hangman’s rope hanging from the roof.

Axel Ritt is the new member of the band, replacing Manni Schmidt and Thilo Hermann.
The bans is playing again with only one guitar.

He sounds good, with very inspired solos and a headbanging metal attitude.

It was very pleasant to see a Grave Digger headlining concert after so many years. A great show full of power and headbangers.

We should dare a moshpit next time! And even some stage diving, don’t you think Chris?
