In 2010, the Hellfest Open Air was scheduled at the worst possible moment: On the same weekend The Big Four (Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica) were scheduled to play in Switzerland, and AC/DC were playing their last show in Paris on friday June 18.

Even worst, Slash scheduled a concert in Paris on June 20!

That was hard choice to make for a lot of metalheads in France and around!

But not that hard to me.

First, I was abroad (travelling in Vietnam) until friday, so I knew I couldn't attend AC/DC's concert in Paris, nor The Big Four in Switzerland, nor the first day of the Hellfest!

Now, what to choose? The Hellfest's last day (with KISS headlining) or Slash in Paris? I choose both! I was so much tired during the whole next week, but it was absolutely worth!

I arrived from Vietnam early on saturday June 19. I went home, dropped my bags, and took a train to the city of Clisson, where the Hellfest is held.

I greatly enjoyed the festival for a whole day, and in the night, after Alice Cooper, we hit the road with a few friends in order to be back in Paris early the morning after.

That's a Metal Traveller's weekend!

The Hellfest is a very enjoyable festival.
Not so big, great sound in general, high quality bands, quite easily accesible and very well organized.

There are several food stalls from where to choose. They even have certain bars where you can buy "special beers"... which simply means good beers, not the awful Kronenburg!

There are also some thematic decorations which make this festival something really appart.
Until very recently there wasn't a proper metal festival in France. Now it's one certainly one of the best European festivals.

The Hellfest is a great place to be and I'll certainly will be back!
