Performance: 4/5
Setlist: 3,5/5
Lights: 5/5
Sound: 4/5
Atmosphere: 3/5
After an hour of fast songs with The Misfits, the Hellfest turned into slow motion with Black Sabbath. Seriously, if Black Sabbath would play the songs at the speed of The Misfits, the concert would have lasted for 20 minutes!
Anyway, the Hellfest has been waiting this show for 2 years! Black Sabbath was scheduled to headline the fest in 2012 but because of Tony Iommi's health issues, the spot was taken by Ozzy & Friends.
So, Black Sabbath at Hellfest was finally happening tonight, and expectations were high.
The band had a sumptuous light show and a very good sound. They all did a really good performance and Ozzy, sang great tonight. Unlike Geezer and Tony, he wasn't static, he also moved a lot around the stage and even jumped with the crowds during Children Of The Grave. It was also unexpected to hear him say "God Bless You!" when finishing the song God Is Dead?
I still can't stand his "Cuckoo" singing before a song like Black Sabbath. I think it drops down the atmosphere but well, he's the one thet does the show.
Overall, the atmosphere was good, but I know of many people who got bored during this show. I can understand it because it almost happened to me 2 weeks earlier at Sweden Rock festival.
The only truly boring moment to me was the drum solo. They skipped 3 songs off the setlist, but still kept that solo! Tommy Clufetos is a great drummer, but who needs a drum solo at midnight after 3 days of festival, played by someone who isn't even an official member of the band?
Despite the shortened set and the not-so-intense atmosphere, this concert was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. To those who were disappointed, I'd say that a Black Sabbath show has to be witnessed in a more intimate environement, so one can fully enjoy the atmosphere they create.
For most people the Hellfest ended with this concert, but I had one more gig to see: Turbonegro at the Warzone Stage.
