When he played in Paris last time, Adam Bomb promised that he would come back around Halloween. Well, finally he came back in December, and of course I was not going to miss his show, part of the Bomb-O-Rama Tour 2008. Adam bomb is Rock n’Roll at his best. He does huge European tours playing in small venues, and he always gives everything he’s got to his fans. Don’t miss him if he goes to your town! If want a serious Rock n’Roll evening, that’s the concert to go. |
This time again the venue was small, and there were maybe 50 people watching the show. That’s a small gig, but believe me, he gives it all, exactly as if he was playing a stadium! The O’Sullivan’s pub is divided into the pub itself, and hall on the back where concerts are held, which is called The Backstage At The Mill. It is located just beside the Moulin Rouge, hence its name, one of Adam’s favourite spots in Paris. Just take a look to the video clip from the song “Je t’aime Baby” or to the flyer from the show and the french tour. |
As usual Adam Bomb opened his concert with “Eruption” from Van Halen, and you know what’s coming for the next two hours: guitar, energy, pyrotechnics, beer and Rock! You can’t stand still when this band in playing in front of you. It’s simply not possible! Whether there are 50 people or a crowd of 5000, you cannot just watch. Headbanging, moshing, or simply dancing, but this guy has something amazing on stage. The sound was good, loud but good. Adam solos were heard perfectly, as well as the other instruments. |
The light show was OK. Of course it was a small venue, but they had good lights for its size. And what about the pyrotechnics? Pyro? On a pub? Yes, you know, Adam Bomb is afraid of nothing! He’s got fire coming out from his guitar every few songs, and he even burns the back of his beloved pink guitar by the end of the show. By the way, the lit his rockets with my lighter; He couldn’t find his lighter on stage so he grabbed mine’s during the show. |
Paul De Bello from Italy is still Adam’s bass player. He’s great; he’s got exactly the same attitude than Adam and fits perfectly on the band. But they had a new drummer this time: Wookie. I don’t know where Adam Bomb gets his drummers, but he always finds people with an incredible Rock n’Roll feeling. All Adam’s greatest songs were played tonight: SST, Je T’Aime Baby, Pure S.E.X., I Want My Heavy Metal… Plus as usual a few cover songs including New York New York, Whole Lotta Rosie from AC/DC and for the first time to me Rock n’Roll All Nite from KISS. |
Surprisingly he only did one 4-song encore, instead of two or three, and the band played for about an hour and a half instead of two hours as usual. I guess that’s because the pub has a curfew and the wanted to end the concert as early as possible. By the way if you’re used to Irish or British pubs this is not the right place for you: besides the concerts, the music that airs is rap and hip-hop…not really what you’re used to hear in this kind of place… |
After the show I spent a few minutes with Adam, Paul and some friends talking about a little bit everything. They’re really cool guys, always ready to rock. |
Again, I spent a great evening with an Adam Bomb show He played the next day in Cergy, a few kilometres away from Paris, but unfortunately there were other concerts in town that day and I finally went to see Monster Magnet. I hope he will come back soon, but I’m sure he will. Oh, by the way, there was a new item on the merchandising this once: some old fashioned pants with the title of the latest album on the back: Rock like F***! A lucky winner got a pair on the lottery Adam Bomb organized tonight. |
